About Me

I love working with non-profit organizations, especially small ones in small communities. I believe those are the organizations with the capacity to shape their communities and make a real difference to the people they serve.
My Services:
But they often face unique challenges, too. I know from experience that small organizations don’t always have the in-house knowledge and resources required to meet those challenges. Especially in the more remote areas of the province, finding the expertise even within our own communities can be difficult. That’s where I come in.
I have been working in the non-profit and arts/culture/heritage field for over thirty years. Much of that time has been spent in community museums, but I have worked with and partnered with many different organizations. Between my work and my volunteering, there is very little in the non-profit world that I haven’t seen and done – on either the operations or the governance side of things.
My training and experience are on par with what you would find in the largest organizations in province, but I am based in the Kootenays. I understand small communities and small organizations, and welcome the opportunity to help your team build something really wonderful.
In addition to my work in the museum and non-profit field, I am a figure skater and skating coach, an avid though easily sidetracked birdwatcher and photographer, and the world’s greatest crazy aunt.
What’s with the chickadees?
They are my favourite bird, but more than that – chickadees represent, for me, everything a community organization should be: active, creative, adaptive, resourceful, resilient.

They might be small, but they radiate hope and positivity, and they can be fierce and determined when they have to be.
They are curious and intelligent – essential qualities for any non-profit that hopes to thrive in a constantly changing world – and highly sociable, often gathering large flocks of other species around themselves in networks resembling those that successful non-profits also build.
